The Butler’s Pantry Taste Gold at the Food Industry Oscars
Award winning fresh food company, The Butler's Pantry have won gold in three food categories at this years Great Taste Awards 2008. Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards are often referred to as the Oscars of the food industry.The Butler's Pantry Champ potato won Gold and Gold star status, their Tea-time cake won gold and gold star status and most significantly The Butler's Pantry Lamb tagine won gold and three star status. Three star is the highest level awarded in any category and only 72 out of the 4753 entries were awarded three gold stars.
From 4753 products entered into the scheme this year, the vast majority of gold award winners were from small producers who source local ingredients and manufacture in small batches, generally by hand. A total of 1124 products were awarded gold this year, most receiving a one-star grading for their general excellence in taste, texture and flavour; 220 were given two stars and just 72 out of the 4753 entries were awarded the coveted three gold stars – a mark that the expert judges considered them faultless.
