"Imagination is more important than knowledge"
Extra-dry, extra-cold white wine can provide the basis for a sparkling collection of cocktails which will be lovely and light.
- Add a spoonful of Framboise, cassis or Poire Williams to a glass of chilled white wine and garnish with fresh raspberries or slice of pear,
- Try dropping a few green grapes in the glass or some melon balls or a slice of mango to make the drink look prettier,
- A sprig of mint crushed lightly in the bottom of the glass is tasty and colourful - pour in the chilled wine on top.
- Plan your menu in advance.
- Delegate some or all of the cooking to The Butler’s Pantry to give you time.
- Do a list, we do!
- If you need help with serving, book waitress/es and barman as much in advance as possible
- If you are going to do some of the cooking be sure to choose one dish that you are familiar with and that you have cooked before
- It’s fun to be adventurous. But do what we do, try it out before the night.
- Shop the day before in case you forget something. You still have the next day.
- Bring your vase down to the florist and ask them to arrange your flowers for you.
- Put candles in the fridge the day before or even in the freezer the day of your party. They will last longer. Candlelight hides a multitude and saves on the polishing when you should be relaxing!
- Set the table the day before.
- Do your seating plan and put name cards out if you wish
- Do as much preparation of your meal in advance as you can.
- If you have fridge space get soft drinks, white wine etc. into the fridge the day before
- Recruit some family help on the day and that night.
- Give yourself lots of space. Clear your worktops and utility room.
- Now you can enjoy the evening, wonderful food, friends and conversation!
