Description
Penedes, Spain – Xarello/Macabeu/Parellada– Alcohol 11.5%
Wine Description:
This is a pet-nat style sparkling rosé from Emilia – Romagna in northern Italy, and was made to be drunk sitting out in the sun in golden hour on a late summer evening! (Literally or imaginatively!). It’s made from the local grapes, such as Bonarda and Barbera, that were lightly pressed and fermented in stainless steel, before refermentation in the bottle, trapping the CO2 and all those lovely bubbles! It’s confident and beautiful, with a touch of sweetness in its pot purri and fennel aromas, making it the perfect partner for sweet/savoury snacks. A word of warning – this is a semi-sparkling style wine, so there is pressure under the cork. Make sure the wine is nicely chilled before opening and be prepared to gently tease the cork out for that “pop”!
Food Pairings:
With the residual sugar here, Bulli can tackle spice and heavily salty savoury foods, so an ideal picnic wine! Charcuterie, soft washed cheeses, red pesto, harissa spices.
