This is a gem of a wine – a Chianti offering from the Brunello di Montalcino producer Col d’Orcia. This is indeed, a Chianti for Brunello drinkers, 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has a bit more meat on its bones than your regular Chianti, whilst maintaining the house’s signature poise and grace. Broad, elegant, medium bodied, medium plus acidity and soft, fine-knit tannins – brilliant wine!
Lots of juniper notes on this one (perfect for Venison in game season!) dried red fruits and black cherries, roast coffee and tomato leaf. This is the wine to enjoy with Italian style cooking, slow cooked ragu, tomato based dishes with lots of basil and bay leaves, pork and beef meatballs with oregano, the works.
