Description
Douro Vally, Portugal – Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta barroca – Alcohol 13.5% – Lutte raisonnée ( Supervised control- Intervention only when necessary)
Jean-Hugues Gros originally hails from France, but after completing his oenology studies in Bordeaux, and a few stints in Burgundy, he had the opportunity to work at Sandeman in the Douro. Afterwards, he worked in Champagne and California to broaden his experience, but Portugal was calling him back. In 1999, he returned and began working for a small port house and consulting for a few others. In 2004, he started his own project under the Odisseia label. Grapes are sourced from high-quality local vineyards, then vinified and aged in his cellar in Vila Real.
Wine Description:
Little Odisseia offers plenty of charm and classic Douro flavours of brambly black fruit and warm spice, but in a lively, fruit-driven package.
Food Pairings:
Perfect BBQ red. Anything meaty but also with charred fish dishes.
