Description
France, Languedoc – Pinot Noir – Alcohol 12.5%%
Wine Description:
Moulin de Gassac came about as a partnership between the famed Languedoc producer Mas de Daumas and local vignerons with good sites, to save the vineyards that were under threat from the EU’s vine-pull scheme that saw the uprooting of hundreds of thousands of vines across the Languedoc in the 1990’s. This wine therefore comes to us as a result of commitment and dedication to these special terroirs and the sharing of skills and talents between like-minded people with a passion for their work. Pont de Gassac Blanc is a clever blend of Vermentino, Chardonnay, Viognier and Colombard, giving us the generosity and wild herbaceousness of this part of France. Full bodied, lush, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol, orange blossom, pears and Mediterranean
herbs, structured bitter minerality to keep everything lifted.
Food Pairings:
Very clever chameleon wine this one! Can play to lighter dishes such as smoked salmon and the smoothness to temper the heat from a wasabi or horseradish based accompaniment – would love a cucumber tzatziki. On the other hand, its volumptuousness and alcohol level makes it perfect for fuller, richer dishes with an alcohol base – lobster Thermidor, pastis based Provencal Chicken casserole.
